30 Companies Recieved Licenses For Local Manufacturing of Mobile Phones

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Industries and Production confirmed the National Assembly that 30 mobile companies have received the local manufacturing license. The decision took place under the policy of Mobile Device Manufacturing.

Answering to the question raised by member of the National Assembly, Wajiha Qamar said that the Ministry of Industries and Production and Engineering Development Board(EDB) have taken numerous steps. The steps include establishing new industries to fulfill the local demand. Moreover, it will also help to increase the production of export-quality goods.

Under the policy of mobile device manufacturing, 30 mobile companies have been issued licenses. The step has been taken to allow the companies to start local manufacturing of mobile devices by establishing local facilities.

Under auto development policy (2016-21) numerous manufacturers have started assembling new brands of vehicles.

Greenfield Technology is another step for both export enhancement and import substitution. The Federal Board of Revenue(FBR) provide tax and duty incentives to enterprises. The enterprises that will bring new technologies to the market.

However, EDB has given the license to the companies after verifying the manufacturing facilities. Moreover, EDB approves total 9 cases of Greenfield status under SRO 887 and 777.

EDB is formulating a policy to promote local production and export. Solar Panel Manufacturing policy, Petrochemicals and steel are other examples.

In addition, EDB is also facilitating businesses to increase export and production using modern methods.
