FBR Uncovers Tax Evasion Among Pakistan’s Top Influencers
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has uncovered multiple cases of tax evasion involving Pakistan’s top social media influencers who flaunt luxury lifestyles online but report minimal income and assets.
According to FBR’s Lifestyle Monitoring Cell, more than 20 cases have been identified where individuals regularly showcased expensive cars, high-end vacations, and lavish living on social media while filing tax returns that did not reflect their visible wealth.
In one case, a popular travel vlogger documented luxury trips across the world from 2020 to 2025, including visits to Seychelles, Dubai, Spain, and Switzerland. Despite this, the influencer declared annual income below Rs1 million during the same period, raising serious red flags about undisclosed earnings.
The FBR stated that the influencer’s financial statements showed income between Rs490,800 and Rs816,800 over five years, far below what their social media activity suggested. Officials believe the individual significantly underreported income generated from brand collaborations, sponsorships, and content monetization.
