The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has officially introduced a major privacy feature in its Pak ID mobile app. Today, May 16, 2026, NADRA unveiled the “Block Biometric Data Access” option. This update gives users complete control over their sensitive biometric information. Consequently, no facial recognition or fingerprint verification can occur without explicit user permission.
NADRA officials highlighted the primary goal of this new update. The feature specifically aims to safeguard sensitive identity information. By putting control entirely in the hands of the public, NADRA actively prevents the unnecessary use of biometric data. Therefore, citizens can confidently secure their digital footprint.
Activating this privacy shield is a straightforward process:
- First, log in to your Pak ID mobile app.
- Next, navigate directly to “Profile Settings”.
- Finally, select the “Block Biometric Data Access” option.
Additionally, keep in mind that activation might require a quick facial or fingerprint verification on certain devices.
Enhanced security does not compromise accessibility. Users can temporarily disable this feature whenever they require biometric verification. Once the verification completes, they can immediately reactivate the block. Ultimately, this seamless toggle ensures continuous data security while maintaining everyday usability.
