Samsung Display has reportedly achieved more than 90% yield for the OLED panels designed for Apple’s next-generation MacBook Pro. According to a new report from Korea, some production processes even recorded yields as high as 95%.
The report claims the OLED panels could enter mass production by June. After that, Samsung Display may begin shipping the panels to Apple’s assembly partners. Current estimates suggest the supply volume could reach nearly 2 million units.
Making OLED panels for laptops remains more challenging than producing them for smartphones. Laptop displays require a much larger panel area. Because of this, companies must maintain strong brightness, a longer lifespan, and consistent screen uniformity across the display.
Apple has reportedly been preparing several OLED-based MacBook models. The company is expected to introduce the MacBook Ultra either later this year or in 2027. Rumors suggest the device may feature an OLED touchscreen display.
Meanwhile, the next-generation MacBook Pro could also receive an OLED upgrade. However, reports indicate the model may not support touch functionality. Even so, the shift to OLED panels would still bring major improvements in contrast, color accuracy, and overall picture quality.
