Oppo’s next flagship smartphone may still be months away, but details about one of its biggest camera upgrades have already surfaced. According to the source on Weibo, Oppo is developing the Find X10 Ultra. The device is expected to succeed the Find X9 Ultra, which debuted in May. As a result, the Find X10 Ultra is unlikely to arrive before next year.
The latest leak focuses on the phone’s long-range telephoto camera. The Find X9 Ultra features a 50MP periscope telephoto sensor with 10x optical zoom. It uses a 1/2.75-inch sensor for long-distance shots.
However, Oppo could introduce a major hardware upgrade with the Find X10 Ultra. The upcoming flagship is said to keep the same 50MP resolution and 10x optical zoom. Yet, it may use a much larger 1/1.95-inch sensor for the telephoto camera.
This would mark a significant increase in sensor size. A larger sensor can capture more light, which often improves image quality. As a result, users could see sharper and brighter photos at 10x zoom, especially in challenging lighting conditions.
The leak also suggests that this sensor will remain the smaller of the phone’s two telephoto cameras. Even so, it will be much closer in size to the short-range telephoto sensor than the one used in the Find X9 Ultra.
While Oppo has not confirmed any details, the early information points to a strong focus on camera performance for the Find X10 Ultra. More leaks are expected to emerge in the coming months as development continues.
