Apple’s first foldable iPhone could arrive with the iPhone 18 Pro series this September. While the company has not confirmed the device, a new report suggests Apple is preparing a large production run.
According to the report, Apple has asked its suppliers to produce around 10 million foldable iPhones in 2026. This figure is higher than earlier estimates. Previous reports claimed Apple planned an initial production run of 7 million to 8 million foldable iPhones.
The latest report also reveals Apple’s production plans for its premium smartphones. The company has reportedly ordered another 70 million units of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
As a result, Apple’s total production target for the new iPhone lineup could reach around 220 million units in 2026.
In addition, Apple has reportedly told some suppliers to prepare for extra orders. These additional orders could reach up to 85 million units during the second half of 2026. The report also claims Apple asked suppliers to keep certain iPhone 17 components available. The company may use those parts for the upcoming iPhone 18 series.
Meanwhile, industry rumors suggest Apple will introduce the foldable iPhone alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The announcement is expected on September 8.
The foldable model is widely rumored to carry the iPhone Ultra name. It is also expected to become Apple’s most expensive smartphone. According to current rumors, the device could start at around $2,500. Higher storage versions may cost up to $3,000.
