The government is expected to increase the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) for the next seven days following renewed tensions between the United States and Iran, which have pushed international oil prices higher.
According to sources privy to the matter told TechJuice, the price of petrol is expected to increase by Rs. 13 per liter, bringing the new rate to Rs. 310 per liter. Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel is set to rise to Rs. 324 per liter.
An official notification from the Petroleum Division is expected to be issued shortly to formally announce the revised fuel prices.
The new rates will remain effective for one week.
The latest increase comes just a week after the government reduced fuel prices. During the previous review, petrol prices were cut by Rs. 1.97 per litre to Rs. 297.53, while high-speed diesel was also reduced by Rs. 1.97 per litre to Rs. 309.50 per litre.
The upward revision reflects growing pressure on global oil markets amid renewed geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which have raised concerns over crude oil supply and international fuel prices.
