Square Enix officially confirmed the English release of a highly anticipated official novel. Fans can purchase Final Fantasy 7: Dear Destiny on January 28, 2027. Consequently, this launch kicks off a massive year for the iconic franchise. The novel serves as a crucial bridge between FF7 Rebirth and the upcoming FF7 Revelation.
Pricing & Pre-Order Details
Currently, the Japanese version of the book is already available. However, global fans can now pre-order the official English translation directly from the Square Enix Store. Buyers have two pricing options to choose from. The physical retail version costs $26.99. Meanwhile, the digital version offers a cheaper alternative at $14.99. Furthermore, publishers plan to release even more novels set within this expanded universe in the future.
Author Kazushige Nojima wrote Dear Destiny as a direct sequel to the previous novel, Traces of Two Pasts. Specifically, the new story explores the lives of Tifa Lockhart and Aerith Gainsborough right before the main game’s narrative begins. Tifa attempts to rebuild her life at Seventh Heaven. Simultaneously, she actively evades the Turks’ ongoing investigation into the Avalanche group.
On the other hand, Aerith makes a living selling flowers in Midgar. During this time, she desperately searches for someone important to her. Eventually, their separate journeys push both characters toward the defining events of the main Final Fantasy 7 universe. Additionally, the notorious Sephiroth maintains a minor presence in the background. Readers will also receive a bonus short story. This extra chapter details Cloud Strife’s early days operating as a Shinra trooper.
Upcoming Games in the Final Fantasy Universe
Before Dear Destiny arrives, fans have another major release to anticipate. Developers will launch the HD-2D game Final Fantasy Resonance this October 2026. After that, players will shift their focus to Final Fantasy 7 Revelation next year.
Revelation serves as the massive final chapter in the remake trilogy. Interestingly, the developers built an open-world environment even larger than the expansive map seen in FF7 Rebirth. Finally, reports indicate Revelation features a massive DLC line-up. Therefore, the 2027 release date likely marks the beginning of vast post-launch content, rather than an abrupt end to the remake saga.
