The Petroleum Division is expected to lift the ban on new domestic LNG connections by September, once force majeure declared by Qatar on LNG supply expires.
According to sources in the Petroleum Division, the ban on domestic LNG connections will be removed as soon as force majeure by Qatar ends, with the restriction likely to be lifted by September.
Qatar has declared force majeure on LNG supply until August.
Sources said that once the force majeure ends, LNG supply is expected to improve in September, a period during which demand for LNG from the power sector is also expected to decline.
The final decision to lift the ban on new connections will be made based on the prevailing supply situation. Domestic LNG connections were suspended in May following disruption in LNG supply.
