Redmi introduced the Note 17 and Note 17 Pro in China earlier today. The standard Redmi Note 17 carries the model number 26021RN18C. Soon after the launch, a new device appeared in the latest HyperOS firmware build. The software contains references to the Poco M8 Power, which carries the model number 26021PC18I.
The model numbers reveal some important details. The letters “RN” represent Redmi, while “PC” stands for Poco. The final character in the model number points to the target market. In this case, “C” refers to China and “I” refers to India.
This strongly suggests that the Poco M8 Power is heading to the Indian market. Xiaomi could also release the phone in other regions, but India now appears to be a confirmed destination.
The model numbers also hint at another possibility. The Poco M8 Power could simply be a rebranded version of the Chinese Redmi Note 17. Xiaomi has often launched the same smartphone under different brand names and in different markets. Therefore, such a move would not be surprising.
It remains unclear whether the global or Indian versions of the Redmi Note 17 will differ from the Chinese model. Xiaomi has previously changed specifications for different regions, so the final details are still unknown.
If the Poco M8 Power is indeed a renamed Redmi Note 17, then it should inherit most of its hardware. The Chinese Redmi Note 17 features a 7-inch OLED display with a 1080 x 2396 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 1,800 nits of peak brightness.
The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset. It is available with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and offers 128GB or 256GB of storage.
For photography, the phone includes a 50MP main camera on the rear and an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. The device also packs a massive 8,000mAh battery with support for 45W wired charging.
Xiaomi has not officially announced the Poco M8 Power yet. However, the latest firmware findings suggest that an official launch could happen sooner rather than later.
