Samsung will hold its Galaxy Unpacked event in London later today. The company is expected to introduce the Galaxy Watch9, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, and its next-generation foldable smartphones. However, just hours before the official announcement, a new leak has revealed the complete specifications and pricing of both upcoming smartwatches.
According to the latest leak, Samsung will power the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 with the Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset. Both smartwatches are expected to include 2GB of RAM. However, storage will differ between the two models. The Galaxy Watch9 is tipped to offer 32GB of internal storage, while the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could feature 64GB.
The display will also be one of the key differences. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is expected to feature a 1.52-inch AMOLED display. It could deliver a peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits for better outdoor visibility.
Meanwhile, Samsung may launch the Galaxy Watch9 in two sizes. The 40mm model is tipped to feature a 1.34-inch display. The larger 44mm version could include a 1.47-inch screen. Both displays are expected to reach up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness. In addition, Samsung is likely to use sapphire crystal protection on both the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
Battery capacity will also vary between the models. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is tipped to pack an 800mAh battery. On the other hand, the 40mm Galaxy Watch9 could include a 390mAh battery, while the 44mm version may feature a 445mAh unit. Both smartwatches are also expected to support WPC-based fast wireless charging.
Samsung could continue focusing on health tracking with its upcoming watches. The leak suggests both models will feature the company’s BioActive sensor. They are also expected to include a temperature sensor, barometer, and geomagnetic sensor for additional health and fitness features.
On the software side, the Galaxy Watch9 series and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 are expected to run Wear OS 7 with One UI 9 Watch out of the box. Connectivity options could include LTE, Bluetooth 6.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, NFC, and GPS.
The leak also highlights different durability ratings. The Galaxy Watch9 is tipped to carry IP68 and 5ATM ratings for dust and water resistance. In comparison, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could offer stronger protection with IP69K and 10ATM+ ratings.
The pricing details have also surfaced before the official launch. The 40mm Galaxy Watch9 Bluetooth model is tipped to cost €409. Its LTE version could be priced at €459. The 44mm Bluetooth variant is expected to cost €439, while the LTE model may launch at €489.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, meanwhile, is expected to arrive only in an LTE version. According to the leak, Samsung could price the premium smartwatch at €749. Samsung will officially unveil the new smartwatches later today. Until then, these leaked details provide a clear look at what buyers can expect from the company’s next wearable lineup.
