Xiaomi may be preparing a major change for its next flagship lineup. A new certification suggests the company could launch more Xiaomi 18 models outside China than before. A tipster on X has spotted two new Xiaomi smartphones in the EEC certification database. The devices carry the model numbers 2609BPN61G and 2611FPNFAG.
According to the source, the first model could be the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, while the second is believed to be the Xiaomi 18. The EEC certification does not reveal any hardware details. However, it does confirm that these devices are intended for markets outside China.
The Xiaomi 18 receiving a global launch is not surprising. Its predecessor also reached international markets. However, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max remained exclusive to China. If the new information is accurate, Xiaomi could finally bring the Pro Max model to global customers.
This report also matches an earlier rumor that claimed the Xiaomi 18 Pro would launch globally. If both reports prove correct, Xiaomi may release the Xiaomi 18, Xiaomi 18 Pro, and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max outside China at the same time.
Such a move would mark a clear shift in Xiaomi’s flagship strategy. Smartphone brands have also faced rising memory costs this year. As a result, Xiaomi may have adjusted its launch plans to reach more markets.
Current rumors suggest Xiaomi will introduce the Xiaomi 18 series in September. The Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max are expected to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. Meanwhile, the standard Xiaomi 18 could feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor.
Camera upgrades may also be a key highlight. The Xiaomi 18 Pro is rumored to feature a 200MP main camera and a 200MP telephoto macro camera. Both cameras are expected to use large sensors. The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max may offer the same camera system.
