Apple’s first foldable iPhone could debut in September with the iPhone 18 Pro series. However, buyers may need to wait longer before placing their orders. According to the source information, Apple plans to release the iPhone Ultra in limited numbers. Manufacturing challenges will likely reduce the initial supply. Therefore, pre-orders may start later than those for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
The source believes Apple could begin shipping the foldable iPhone during the fourth quarter of 2026. Even with a price between $2,300 and $2,500, he expects the device to sell out soon after it becomes available.
The limited supply could also create an opportunity for scalpers. As a result, resale prices may reach 50 to 100 percent above the official retail price. The source estimates Apple will ship around 7 million to 8 million foldable iPhone units by the end of 2026.
Meanwhile, another recent report suggests Apple has raised its 2026 production target. The company now reportedly aims to produce around 10 million iPhone Ultra units next year.
The iPhone Ultra is expected to feature a 7.76-inch main display and a 5.49-inch cover screen. Reports also suggest it will use Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro chipset and include 12GB of RAM. In addition, the foldable iPhone could pack a 5,500mAh battery. Apple has not confirmed any of these details yet. Therefore, the final specifications could change before the official launch.
