The world’s 2nd richest person and co-founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates is globally renowned for his philanthropic deeds to help mankind. The tech billionaire has donated various social organizations and states for their humanitarian cause, including his biggest donation of the century of around $4.6 billion. Recently, Bill Gates has announced aid for the Polio eradication and health services in Pakistan, as revealed by an official letter to the Ministery for National Health Services, Regulation, and Coordination (NHS), as reported by Dawn News.

Last year in September, Bill Gates met with Pakistan’s PM in NewYork and appreciated the efforts of Pakistan’s govt in Polio eradication. PM Abbasi discussed the possibilities of collaboration in the health sector between The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Government of Pakistan, at that time. As of now, Minister for National Health Services (NHS) Saira Afzal Tarar has disclosed that Mr. Gates has praised the government’s commitment to eradicating Polio. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has decided to increase the financial aid for Pakistan.

NHS reveals that this financial assistance will be available for not only Polio eradication programme, but also for other health divisions. According to a statement given by an NHS official to Dawn,

“Mr. Gates has nominated his technical team and it would hopefully meet the representatives of the ministry soon to finalize support in different sectors.”

The foundation has earlier helped Pakistan in the health sector, as it has given an aid of around Rs. 72 billion to Pakistan until now. The foundation also provides technical and financial resources to boost specific vaccination campaigns, routine immunization and raising awareness in underdeveloped countries.
