The Pakistan Navy executed a massive counter-narcotics operation recently. Pakistan Navy seized illicit drugs and narcotics worth approximately $96 million while conducting two separate interceptions in the Arabian Sea. The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirmed these details earlier today.
Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Yarmook spearheaded the mission. The ship deployed deep into the Arabian Sea. Consequently, naval forces intercepted two dhows at extended ranges from the Pakistani coastline. Personnel searched the suspicious vessels thoroughly. During the search, they discovered concealed compartments hidden inside the boats. Furthermore, these secret sections contained a massive payload of illegal substances.
The operation yielded massive quantities of illicit drugs. Specifically, the Pakistan Navy recovered around 850 kilograms of ice. Additionally, they confiscated 2,000 kilograms of hashish and cannabis. Authorities immediately took the seized narcotics into custody. Next, the Pakistan Navy will hand the drugs over to the relevant law enforcement agencies. These agencies will handle further legal proceedings and ensure the safe disposal of the contraband.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) highlighted the success of these operations. They stated that this interception of narcotics in the Arabian Sea reflects the sustained presence and vigilance of the Pakistan Navy. Moreover, it proves their commitment to regional maritime security and the fight against illicit sea trafficking.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also weighed in on the achievement. He commended the Navy officers and personnel for their professional competence. Finally, the Prime Minister’s Office shared that he views these timely operations as a highly effective measure against drug smuggling within Pakistan’s maritime domain.
