There has been much controversy about COMSATS’ dual degree program that the university offers in collaboration with the Lancaster University. The Higher Education Commission (HEC), last year, declared that this degree was useless and that the student’s academic futures were at risk.

There was a case registered against COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) on this matter and it had its first hearing yesterday, on the 16th of June.

The involved parties in the case were CIIT, HEC, and Pakistan Legal Commission. The case is being heard by Justice Shahid Kamran who adjourned the case till June 29 after hearing arguments from all three parties.

On 29th June, the three involved bodies will present their arguments again in the Lahore High Court to decide what is to become of COMSATS’ dual degree program.
