Islamabad has launched a dedicated security application named “Mahfooz Muharram” for the first time, allowing citizens to report suspicious individuals, activities, or inadequate security arrangements.
The Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi chaired a comprehensive security review meeting on Muharram al-Harram arrangements, issuing strict directives to strengthen checks at all entry and exit points of processions.
Mohsin Naqvi directed relevant officers to remain present in the field at all times and ensure timely, standard food and rest arrangements for all deployed security personnel.
The minister ordered authorities to maintain close coordination with religious scholars to preserve public order and enforce a zero-tolerance policy against all provocative material circulating during the period.
Strict compliance with the established code of conduct was also emphasised, with instructions issued to relevant officials to monitor and immediately act against any violations reported from the field.
The Chief Commissioner and Inspector General of Islamabad Police briefed the meeting in detail, confirming that security audits of all processions and gatherings have been fully completed.
They confirmed that Aman and Nigehban committees have been activated and that Islamabad administration remains in continuous contact with religious scholars of all processions and gatherings.
Officials stated that geo-tagging of all imambargahs, majalis venues, and procession routes has been completed, with drone-based digital surveillance to be deployed throughout the Muharram observance period.
Authorities confirmed that live location tracking and image-sharing capabilities will also be available, enabling real-time monitoring and rapid coordination among security agencies during the sensitive religious period.
