Roblox has announced a wave of new features at its annual developer conference. The updates make building games easier through artificial intelligence. Crucially, they also let creators publish games beyond the Roblox platform itself. Additionally, the company launched dedicated financial tools for its creators.
The headline change involves expanding its generative AI creation feature. Called “Build,” it lets users create games using natural language prompts. First announced in July, it launched only in New Zealand initially. Now the company is expanding it to Serbia and Singapore too.
Build also gains several meaningful new capabilities this time. These include desktop access for big-screen creation and iterative control. Furthermore, a new asset library supports the creation process directly. Later this year, a prompt-based scene-generation feature will arrive too.
Perhaps most significantly, Roblox games can now escape the platform. Creators will soon publish games as separate apps entirely. These will work across mobile, PC, and console devices. Notably, Roblox itself acts as the game engine behind them.
The web expansion proves equally important for reach. By year-end, players can join a game through a browser link. This signals a clear strategic shift for the company. It now focuses on expanding reach, not just driving platform visits.
Several other creator tools featured in the announcements too. NPCs will soon gain the ability to playtest games themselves. Creators can also add an offline mode for weak connections. Meanwhile, a new Friends chat tab travels across games seamlessly.
The financial products carry real weight for creators specifically. Since 2013, game makers earned over $5 billion on Roblox. In the last 12 months alone, earnings reached $1.7 billion. Consequently, the company introduced new ways to access those funds.
First comes a Roblox Wallet paying creators in real money daily. It partners with Airwallex, serving US users aged 18 and older. A Roblox Card follows next year for spending earnings anywhere. Global expansion for these tools is planned for later.
For 20 years, Roblox has been on a mission to remove limits on what gaming is – and what it can be.
Today, we're introducing Build – a new way for anyone to create a game on Roblox from their phone. And we’re expanding AI-powered tools for developers of every level.

The scale behind these moves remains staggering overall. CEO David Baszucki said players spent 29 billion hours last quarter. That engagement spanned 180 countries around the world. Ultimately, Roblox wants that activity growing both on and off-platform.
