While Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) has started receiving Android Oreo update in some Asian countries, yet its two-year-old beasts Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge have yet to receive Oreo treatment.

A Turkish website which is used by Samsung for the official announcements has recently revealed the update timeline for some of the Samsung’s devices. The Oreo release date for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge is scheduled on the 18th of May, 2018 and for Galaxy A3, A5, and A7 (2017) models are planned for June 1, 2018 release and. In addition to these models, Samsung has also promised to update its Galaxy Tab S3 with the Oreo update.

Unfortunately, this update schedule contradicts with the previously announced timeline, as it was earlier set for mid-April for Samsung Galaxy S7 series. And now it appears that Samsung may have pushed back the release of Android Oreo until next month.

These Samsung devices will get Android 8.0 Oreo

Gathering important information from various authentic sources we have compiled a list of the devices of Samsung which will get Android Oreo update at a later stage.

  • Galaxy S7 – development in progress
  • Galaxy S7 edge – development in progress
  • Galaxy S7 Active – Android 8.0 will be the second major OS upgrade
  • Galaxy A8 (2018) – Android 8.0 will be the first major OS upgrade
