Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S27 series could bring several camera changes across its four models. New rumors have now shared more details about the camera hardware. A rumor yesterday claimed that Samsung is testing a new main camera sensor for the Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+. It also repeated an earlier claim about the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Both premium models are expected to feature a 50MP ultrawide camera. Now, a new rumor has again backed that claim while revealing more details about the sensor. According to the latest information, the 50MP ultrawide camera could use Sony’s IMX855 sensor. The sensor is reportedly a 1/2.55-inch type unit.
The Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra are also expected to share one zoom camera. However, the Ultra model could feature a second zoom camera as well. This would give the Galaxy S27 Ultra two telephoto cameras. The setup would be similar to what Samsung has used on previous Ultra models.
However, earlier rumors have suggested a different camera arrangement. Those reports claimed that the Galaxy S27 Ultra could have three cameras in total. Only one of those cameras would be a telephoto unit.
If the latest information is accurate, the second telephoto camera could become a key difference between the S27 Pro and S27 Ultra. The rumored lack of an S Pen on the S27 Pro could be another major difference.
The Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra are also expected to feature 16MP selfie cameras. Both front cameras could support autofocus. Interestingly, the Galaxy S27 Pro’s selfie camera may also support optical image stabilization, or OIS. However, this detail has not been confirmed yet.
The latest rumor also backs the use of a new 50MP main camera on the Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+. Both phones are said to use a Sony sensor. Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S27 family in early 2027. The lineup could include four devices with the codenames NM1, NM2, NM3, and NM4.
The “NM” name reportedly stands for “new miracle” or “next miracle.” The numbers then match the expected order of the lineup. NM1 is said to be the Galaxy S27, while NM2 could be the Galaxy S27+. Meanwhile, NM3 reportedly refers to the Galaxy S27 Pro. Finally, NM4 is expected to be the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Samsung has yet to confirm any details about the Galaxy S27 series.
For now, these camera specifications remain part of the rumor cycle. Still, the repeated claims suggest that Samsung could be planning notable camera changes for its 2027 flagship lineup.
