Samsung is going to handicap Note 7, forcing you to return it

Samsung is soon going to roll out an update to the doomed Samsung Galaxy Note 7 which will soon make it unusable for the users who still have it.

Samsung Electronics, the wold’s largest smartphone manufactured head-quartered in South Korea, will be forcing the users to return the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. An update which is scheduled to release after December 19 for the customers in US firstly, will cripple the phablet’s charging capabilities.

The roll-out will be completed to the remaining users over an extended time period of 30 days. Samsung has made clear that the users will be given different “Touch Points”, before their Note 7s are rendered useless. On each Touch Point, a notification will be sent out to the users asking them to shift to any other phone, as per the Samsung replacement policy.

The company release read,

“To further increase participation, a software update will be released starting on December 19th and will be distributed within 30 days. This software update will prevent U.S. Galaxy Note7 devices from charging and will eliminate their ability to work as mobile devices. Together with our carrier partners, we will be notifying consumers through multiple touchpoints to encourage any remaining Galaxy Note7 owners to participate in the program and to take advantage of the financial incentives available.”

Samsung was forced to recall and shut down the production of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 after it started exploding a couple of months back. Initially, the battery of Note 7 was diagnosed unsafe. Note 7 were recalled globally and replaced with the safer ones. Samsung, however, had to permanently halt the production and sales of Note 7 for the problem had persisted.
