Samsung has officially announced the beta program for its Android 17-based One UI 9 software ahead of Google’s Android Show I/O edition event later today. While Google is expected to reveal Android 17 features during the showcase, Samsung moved first by introducing the new update for the Galaxy S26 lineup.
The One UI 9 beta program will roll out this week for Galaxy S26 users in selected countries. These markets include Germany, India, South Korea, Poland, the U.K., and the U.S. Users can join the beta through the Samsung Members app.
Samsung also shared several new features coming with the update. The Samsung Contacts app now supports the Creative Studio AI tool. This feature lets users create custom profile cards directly inside the app.
Meanwhile, the Quick Panel now offers better control options. Users can separately manage screen brightness, sound settings, and the media player through dedicated toggles.
Samsung has also improved accessibility tools in One UI 9. The company combined the TalkBack voice guidance system into a single package. Previously, Google and Samsung offered these services separately. In addition, Text Spotlight now works in floating windows, making content easier to read.
The update also adds adjustable mouse key speed controls. Samsung Notes is getting new pen line styles and decorative tape options for better customization.
On the security side, Samsung introduced a new protection system for risky applications. The feature automatically detects suspicious app activity and warns users about high-risk apps. It can also block file installation and execution when needed. Furthermore, the system suggests steps to help users keep their devices secure.
