Xiaomi has expanded its flagship lineup with the launch of the Xiaomi 17 Max. The new model joins the Xiaomi 17 series as a more practical alternative to the 17 Pro Max. While it skips the secondary rear display, it focuses heavily on battery life and camera performance.
The biggest highlight is its massive 8,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery. Xiaomi claims the phone can easily last more than two days on normal use. The company also says the battery will keep up to 80% of its original health after 1,600 charging cycles. That equals more than four years of daily charging.
Charging speeds are equally impressive. The Xiaomi 17 Max supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. In addition, it can deliver 22.5W reverse-wired charging to power other devices.
Inside, the phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Xiaomi pairs the flagship processor with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 storage for fast performance and multitasking.
The handset also lives up to its “Max” branding with a large 6.9-inch AMOLED display. The screen offers a 2,608 × 1,200 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi says the panel can reach up to 3,500 nits peak brightness. The display also houses a 32MP selfie camera in a punch-hole cutout and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
On the back, Xiaomi equips the 17 Max with a 200MP primary camera using Samsung’s HP9 sensor. The sensor supports up to 13.5EV dynamic range and features an ƒ/1.65 aperture with optical image stabilization. Alongside it sits a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and macro photography support. The setup also includes a 50MP ultrawide lens with a 17mm equivalent focal length.
On the software side, the Xiaomi 17 Max ships with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. The phone also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
Xiaomi offers the 17 Max in black, white, and blue color options. In China, the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version starts at CNY 4,799, which converts to around $705 or €609. Meanwhile, the top-end 16GB and 512GB variants cost CNY 5,799, or about $853 and €735.
