Imagine browsing through pictures of food, you tap on the one you like and viola, it magically appears in front of you in a mouth-watering, ready-to-eat form! Sounds like a scene from Sci-Fi, but worry not, technology has brought idea this closer to reality. Plus, how many times have you wanted to go out to eat with friends or family but faced problems like limited information. Here is a list of apps that can assist you in grabbing a bite if you live in Pakistan:

1. FoodPanda


Fuss-free online food ordering from dozens of the best restaurants located in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad & Rawalpindi*. The process is simple; browse(nearby restaurants and their menus), order, get it delivered to your home, office or any place from the delivery locations offered. While searching through the cafés and restaurants the results can be filtered by cuisines, price level and a few other options. As with all the online food deliveries it’ll spare you the hassle of placing an order by phone and having to talk to the restaurant staff explaining to them what you want.

The app also mentions the minimum order amount for delivery from each restaurant, delivery fees (if any), estimated delivery times as well as users reviews about the restaurants.

Tossdown is a brilliant food guide app if one wants to go out to eat. You can explore and discover so many places to dine in Abbottabad, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar, further categorized by areas in the cities. It is a fine option to find menus of various different restaurants at one place. The site also features special tips, reviews and photos shared by other foodies. Other than the location and contact details the available facilities, like Wi-Fi and parking, are also mentioned. There’s an option of online reservations with exclusive discounts for some restaurants and bakeries (for “Khaba” card holders). Hungry and want to know about eating places are nearby? Just tap on the map view to see all the eateries that are located close to you.

3. Foortal


Foortal is a portal for foodies of Karachi, Hyderabad, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore to order online. It has all the usual features like menus, special deals and pictures from different restaurants, prices, delivery/take-away options and locations. Plus you can get discounts and earn points when you order online. You can even rate and review the restaurant and food based on your experience. Other than ordering food and paying cash on delivery, you can also see a list of nearby places that offer take-out orders.

4. Olaround


Olaround is an app that combines restaurant check-ins with reward points. This smartphone loyalty app lets users find venues around the city that offer deals and discounts and then avail those discounts by scanning a code. After collecting significant punches (or check-ins via the app), you will be entitled to redeem for special rewards called ‘kicks’ customized to each restaurant or brand. In short, if you want to get rewarded as you grab a burger, sip a cup of coffee or even shop for other items, Olaround is a must-try.

5. Chalo! Navigator


Chalo is more than just a restaurant locating app. It is the complete solution for navigating through the city. Other than listing addresses and details of tons of restaurants near and far, Chalo also lets you find other important places. Imagine it’s prayer time and you need to find a Mosques around, Chalo can help you. Running low on fuel? Find a CNG or petrol station you can get to. Similarly navigate your way to the nearest ATMs, Banks, Hotels, Police Stations and Hospitals with this application. Additionally, find which movies are playing in your city, their timings, cinemas and how to get there with Chalo. The app claims to feature about a million of points of interest across the country, that’s something! Users can even share the location with friends and family using the social networks and maintain a list of favorites for easier access.
