Pearl Abyss released Patch 1.06.00 for Crimson Desert yesterday, May 11. Consequently, players have a massive slate of new content to explore. Previously, the open-world game debuted to mixed Steam reviews. Now, consistent post-launch support has pushed it to a “Very Positive” rating. Moreover, the game recently surpassed two million copies sold in its first 24 hours. Therefore, Pearl Abyss is moving fast to keep the momentum strong.
Game-Changing Extraction Feature, Special Mounts & Unarmed Combat
Most importantly, the new Extraction system overhauls the game’s economy. Players can now recover materials used during equipment refinement. Specifically, you can visit smithies across the map to revert refinement levels. For example, you can drop a level 10 item back down to its base level 4. As a result, you retrieve your spent resources. Furthermore, special items like Artifacts and Aeserion’s scale yield a 100% return. Meanwhile, common materials like iron ore give back roughly 70%
Additionally, the update introduces special mounts. You can now tame wild beasts like bears, wolves, lions, camels, and raptors. First, you must earn their trust by subduing and feeding them. Furthermore, players can finally feed these animals while riding. Simultaneously, saddles are no longer default visual items. Instead, you must purchase them from specific regional saddleries and equip them manually via a new inventory tab.
Combat also gets a heavy update. Namely, Oongka receives new bare-handed abilities under the “Fists” menu. Consequently, players can utilize improved chain attacks like the “Roundhouse Kick” and execute a “Blinding Flash” without a weapon. Meanwhile, Damiane will receive his unarmed skills in the next major update.
Mini-Games, Pets & Crimson Desert QoL Fixes
Besides combat, the developers added engaging side activities. For instance, players can try a new claw machine mini-game at the Laughing Marionette to win gear and items. Additionally, you can now purchase the “Sigil of Valor” from the Pororin Secret Shop. Consequently, equipping this item commands your pet dogs to attack enemies in battle.
Finally, Patch 1.06.00 delivers massive Quality of Life (QoL) improvements. Players get a new “Night Tone Mode” for softer visual colors. Moreover, the inventory menu now features highly requested “Clean All” and “Butcher All” buttons. Boss AI also saw major fixes. Notably, bosses will now quickly return to the arena if they step out of bounds, and their stun gauges will slowly recover if the player retreats.
