The wait for Grand Theft Auto (GTA) VI news continues, but a massive new rumor just surfaced. Yesterday, a streamer named Frogboyx1Gaming revealed an unexpected email. The message apparently came from ‘Best Buy’. Crucially, it leaks a highly anticipated GTA VI pre-order date.

The ‘Best Buy’ Affiliate Campaign
During a live stream about console and PC gaming, Frogboyx1Gaming suddenly halted his broadcast to share this claim. He stated that Best Buy’s affiliate team contacted him regarding a “GTA VI Pre Order (Physical Game)” campaign. According to the email, this campaign will run from May 18 to May 21, 2026. Furthermore, Best Buy allegedly offered a 5% commission on online sales for creators who direct customers to their retail stores.
To prove his claim, the creator showed the sender’s email address on camera. Later, third parties verified that the address appears to belong to a legitimate Best Buy affiliate marketing department. The creator also shared an image of the email details in the X post shared above.
Take-Two Earnings Call & GTA VI Trailer 3
This specific timeline aligns perfectly with an upcoming corporate event. Take-Two Interactive scheduled an earnings call for May 21. Therefore, opening pre-orders just days before this meeting makes logical sense. It would allow the publisher to present impressive engagement numbers and statistics to shareholders.
Additionally, Take-Two executives previously assured fans that GTA VI marketing campaigns would begin soon. Because the fanbase desperately awaits the third trailer, this leak gives them serious hope. An imminent pre-order drop could finally bring that long-awaited footage.
Rumor or Reality?
Despite the legitimate-looking sender address, this information remains an unverified rumor. Faking or spoofing an email like this is still entirely possible. Consequently, skeptics advise fans to keep their expectations in check. Currently, neither Best Buy nor Rockstar Games has commented on the matter. Until official confirmation arrives, treat this supposed May 18 pre-order launch strictly as a rumor.
Recent Update…
Following the initial email leak, more supposed evidence has surfaced online. Today, X account @TheGTA6Informer shared screenshots of an alleged customer support chat with a ‘Best Buy’ Live Agent.
In the screenshots, the agent claims that Grand Theft Auto VI is “officially set to release on November 19, 2026”. Furthermore, the representative advised the customer to check the website “first thing this Monday, May 18”. The agent stated they expect pre-order listings for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S to go live at that time.
However, internet users can easily forge customer support chats. Additionally, frontline retail agents rarely hold embargoed release date information for major AAA titles. Therefore, fans must continue to treat these developments as unconfirmed rumors until Rockstar Games makes a formal announcement.
