Grand Theft Auto (GTA) VI fans just received crucial updates straight from the top. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick recently addressed the public during an earnings call on May 21. Furthermore, he spoke to Bloomberg to clear the air regarding upcoming milestones. As previously reported regarding Take-Two CEO promising “no further delays“, Rockstar Games remains locked in for a final November 19 launch. Consequently, Zelnick shifted his focus toward pre-orders and the upcoming marketing push.
Recently, a Best Buy leak suggested that pre-orders would begin in mid-May 2026. However, Zelnick quickly dismissed this rumor as inaccurate. He stated he did not know the origin of the false claim. Instead, he confirmed that pre-orders will actually kick off in the “immediate future”.
Typically, these pre-orders coincide with full-scale marketing campaigns. Therefore, Zelnick expects the official GTA VI marketing push to start in summer 2026. This timeline suggests pre-orders could open anywhere between June 21 and September 23.
GTA VI Gameplay Trailers & Multiplayer Timelines
The upcoming marketing campaign will likely intensify with a highly anticipated third trailer. Previously, the first two trailers established the setting and protagonists. Thus, fans widely expect the next trailer to reveal actual gameplay. This footage should finally showcase the HUD, the character-switching mechanic, and core game elements.
Moreover, Rockstar will likely hold back the multiplayer reveal. Following the exact pattern of GTA V, the studio will probably drop a separate trailer for the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) Online successor after pre-orders begin. Consequently, the online mode reveal may not arrive before fall 2026.
Finally, the launch-day version will only hit PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. Currently, Rockstar Games has not formally committed to a PC version. Nevertheless, based on the developer’s track record, a PC port should launch within a year or two of the console debut.
