Infinity Ward officially revealed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on May 28. Just two days after, a new leak points to a massive pre-order perk. A recent listing on the Xbox Store suggests players will get to experience the game’s main campaign early.
The Microsoft storefront briefly displayed a listing for a “Campaign Early Access Pack”. Therefore, fans will likely play the main story well before the full game and multiplayer modes launch. However, Infinity Ward has not officially confirmed this early access period yet.

The Largest Campaign in the Modern Warfare Series
Infinity Ward is pushing boundaries with the new narrative. The upcoming game takes players to the Korean peninsula. Specifically, the plot focuses on a full-scale invasion of South Korea. Furthermore, fans will see the highly anticipated return of Captain Price.
Associate Design Director Alex Norris recently stated that this will be the largest campaign in the Modern Warfare subseries. Consequently, the development team heavily emphasizes mission variety. They want to ensure classic stealth missions and vehicle sequences feel completely fresh rather than rehashing old formulas.

Modern Warfare 4 Overcoming Narrative Challenges
Setting the game in Korea brought unique hurdles for the studio. Historically, North Korea severely restricts information from reaching Western audiences. As a result, Narrative Director Jeff Negus explained that the team faced distinct challenges depicting the country accurately. Ultimately, the developers relied on consultations with Korean colleagues and various YouTube documentaries to craft a realistic setting.
Besides the story, Infinity Ward is completely overhauling the gameplay. They are introducing entirely new movement mechanics. Additionally, the developers are adding new “Apex Attachments” to the franchise.
Next-Gen Only & a Nintendo Return
Modern Warfare 4 marks a massive hardware shift for console players. For the first time since Call of Duty: Ghosts in 2013, the franchise will skip the eighth-generation consoles entirely. You will not see this game on the PS4 or Xbox One. Instead, the developers are focusing purely on current hardware.
Additionally, the series finally returns to Nintendo platforms. Modern Warfare 4 will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on the exact same day as other major platforms.
