Tomorrow, Battlefield 6 becomes free to play for a limited time. Battlefield Studios scheduled this event alongside a massive patch. Earlier this year, the game launched with an impressive 750,000 concurrent player peak on Steam. However, severe gameplay and performance issues quickly killed that momentum. Consequently, the game’s Steam reviews dropped to “Mixed”. Now, the daily average sits around just 50,000 concurrent players.
To win players back, the developers are releasing update 1.3.3.0. Additionally, they are opening the game for everyone to test the improvements.
What Battlefield 6 Update 1.3.3.0 Brings to the Table
Players can download the new update tomorrow, June 30, at 5:00 PM PKT / 12:00 PM UTC. Specifically, this patch delivers crucial UI and HUD updates. Furthermore, it brings audio polish, AI improvements, and various map and mode fixes. The developers also included new additions to the Battlefield 6 Portal.
The free-to-play event runs from June 30 until July 6. During this window, players on all platforms can access the game at no cost. However, you must meet a few specific requirements. First, you need an active internet connection and an EA account. Second, you must install the latest June 30 update. Finally, you have to install Battlefield REDSEC, which is available separately.
Once inside, the trial offers plenty of content. Specifically, you get access to five game modes. You also get to play on four different maps. These include the massive Railway to Golmud, the reimagined Cairo Bazaar, and Tactical Obliteration.
Other Free Games Available Right Now
If shooters are not your style, other platforms offer free titles this week. PC users can claim and keep Tell Me Why on Steam until the end of June. Meanwhile, the Epic Games Store offers RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition and Voidwrought until July 2. Afterward, Epic will replace them with I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream and River City Girls 2. Previously, Xbox Game Pass let fans play Blades of Fire, House Flipper 2, and Assetto Corsa Competizione for free until June 28.
