Qualcomm, the globally renowned chipmaker and telecom equipment provider has finally introduced its most anticipated flagship processor ‘Snapdragon 845’ at its annual Snapdragon Tech Summit in Hawaii. The Snapdragon 845 is a successor to last year’s worthy contestant Snapdragon 835. It is expected to come with improved performance, better power efficiency, and improved image processing.

Snapdragon 845 is expected to come in all major Android smartphones next year. Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun has also confirmed at the event that Mi 7 will feature Snapdragon 845 chipset, which earlier appeared in a leak. Although Xiaomi is a very important partner for Qualcomm, yet the 845 chipsets will be manufactured by the Samsung Foundry.

Snapdragon 845 is supposed to bring few major improvements in terms of performance. It is expected to give a boost of 10-20% in CPU specs, as compared to 835 chipsets. While 20-25% boost is also expected in GPU. Qualcomm is also maximizing the support of wide-gamut OLED displays. The chipsets are also said to be artificially intelligent, as we have seen from competitors like Apple and Huawei in recent months.

As the last year’s Snapdragon 835 featured a 10nm manufacturing processor, so the 845 is expected to be the same. Snapdragon 845 will come with latest X20 LTE modem, which provides gigabit connectivity on supported networks. Not much of the latest chipset has been revealed yet, but we will update you with more details of Snapdragon 845 soon enough.
