90’s classic Tekken debuts on smartphone
It turns out that Bandai Namco, a Japan-based game maker and publisher, has decided to launch 90s classic, still popular, fighting game Tekken on smartphones. Currently, the game has been launched in Canada for iOS users. The classic fighting game will be available across the globe in the near future on both iOS and Android. The company has announced that gamers can pre-register before it releases in their respective countries via company’s newly launched website to unlock free bonuses like extra characters and XP boosts.
The classic Tekken has received many sequels and updates till now.
At first, the game was launched for Arcade and PlayStation platforms. While later it was released for other platforms as well which include Xbox, WonderSwan, and Wii U etc. And now as mentioned above it will release on smartphones.
The company said in an official statement, “As more people pre-register for the game, more rewards and in-game contents will be available for the Global Launch.”
The mobile game features more than 100 characters including Paul, Kazuya, Xiaoyu, Law, Panda, Nina, Anna, and Heihachi Mishima etc. Players can upgrade and unlock 20 unique moves for each character in the mobile game while creating personal and unique fighting styles. The company has made different game modes to lets users enjoy the game to its fullest. The game modes include a Story mode and Dojo mode. Furthermore, the company will host Live events to give its users fresh experience, providing them with rare characters and content during these Live events.
- Story Mode will let users create a team of three players who will assist and help Kazuya Mishima against powerful characters and a new enemy called Revenant which the company has made solely for the mobile game. It is a map-based campaign featuring unique encounters and powerful bosses.
- Dojo Mode is my personal favorite as it will allow you to build a team of players to fight against your friends and other game players online. The users will be allowed to build a team of attackers and defenders to compete while earning rewards in the process. Moreover, a special ranking system is also developed by the company so that player can measure his performance against other world’s players.
It would be worth mentioning here that gamers will need Android 4.4 and more than 1GB of RAM to be able to play the game on the phone.
The game description on iTunes reads,
“TEKKEN, the world’s most successful fighting game franchise has been brought to mobile! Join PAUL, KAZUYA, XIAOYU, LAW, PANDA, NINA & all other famous fighters to engage in an intuitive, deep combat system featuring fighting techniques from all around the world. Take on the role of the Dojo Master, collecting, upgrading and battling with your favorite fighters from the legendary TEKKEN franchise.”
This is not the first game which made its way to the mobile platform, previously other famous games such as Final Fantasy and The Legend of Zelda have both made it to the mobile platform. Additionally, Bandai Namco last year has released Tekken 7 for its users across the globe on PS4 and Xbox One.
